His Excellency President Md Abdul Hamid was born in 1944 at the village Kamalpur under Mithamoin Upazila of Kishoreganj. He matriculated from Nikly GC High School and had his IA and BA from Guru Dayal College in Kishoreganj. Later on he graduated in Law from Dhaka Central Law College and joined the Kishoreganj Bar for legal practice.
